Jose Mor

Born in Godella (Valencia) in 1976, he studied at the "Joaquin Rodrigo" Conservatory of Music in Valencia, where he obtained the title of Superior Cello Professor.

 

Between 1992 and 1998 he studied with Lluís Claret at the Barcelona School of Music. He studies in London with Charles Tunnell, principal cellist of the English Chamber Orchestra, in addition to always having the advice of Mr. Vicente Costa Cortell. At the same time, he has taken advanced training courses with Pedro Corostola, Radu Aldulescu, Martti Roussi, Lluís Claret, Bernard Greenhouse, Charles Tunnell and Frans Helmerson.

 

He has been a member of the Youth Orchestra of the Mediterranean (OJM) and (JONDE.). He has collaborated with several orchestras and instrumental groups in Valencia and with the Orchestra of Valencia. He has been awarded several prizes, among which the following stand out: - In 1995, the First Prize in the VIII edition of the "Germans Claret" Competition.

 

In 1997 the Honorable Mention in the cycle "El Primer Palau", in the Palau de la Música in Barcelona with the Trio Kronos. In 1998 the First Prize in the string category of the Permanent Contest of Young Performers of Musical Youth of Spain, held in Sabadell. In 2000 the First Prize of the IV Young Performers Competition "Ciutat de Xàtiva". Founding member of the LOM Piano Trio with which he has been awarded the first prize in the national Paper de Música de Capellades competition (2003) and in the national chamber music competition ¨Montserrat Alavedra¨ (2004), the first prize in the 11th edition of the international chamber music competition ¨International Music Tournament Competition" held in France in December 2004, and the special prize for the best trio with piano in the city of Verona competition "Gaetano Zinetti" (2006).

 

He has performed before the JONDE as a soloist performing Enric Casals' Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra in the Zaragoza auditorium, and Schumann's concerto with the Orchestra del Segle XXI in Barcelona. He is currently Cello Soloist with the Barcelona and National Symphony Orchestras of Catalonia.
