Founded on 1981 by Trio from Barcelona integrated by Gerard Claret (violin), Luis Claret (cello) and Albert Attenelle (piano). She was awarded the1998 with the "National Award for Music Education”, and with more than thirty years of experience and a consistent pool of professionals trained in it over the years.
The Escola de Música de Barcelona aims to provide quality musical training to all those boys and girls, young people or adults who want it, taking into account the individual abilities and interests of each student. At the same time, it provides the necessary training to all those students who want to opt for the professional path in the future.

Each year, the School promotes numerous activities that stimulate learning and promote the interest and enjoyment of its students, such as the "quarterly concert outings", the "quarterly orchestral meetings, the Casal, the Concerts of teachers, ex-students and students and the Summer Music Courses which include the "Summer musical camps for children and Interpretation course for young people" which have been carried out continuously since the year 1984.
Throughout its history and in parallel with academic activity, the EMB organizes the three annual Barcelona Chamber, Barcelona String and Barcelona Piano Competitions, with the aim of motivating, encouraging and rewarding the dedication of young performers .
